I recently discovered that I have a pet peeve or a harmless obsession. I know that I have several small "obsessions" which I am positive that a majority of the population has as well but this new one has been brought to my attention by my own observing. Only since it has been brought to my attention has it become bothersome in a sense.
My dining room table has to have all of the chairs pushed back under the table. I know this might sound a little insane but it's not just my table but my friend's tables, the resteraunt tables, etc. That also includes the computer desk and even bar stools at my local hang out. Yeah, I know that sounds just a little "obsessive" but at least it's harmless. Uh huh..... right?
I have caught myself walking completely around the table after someone gets up to purposely push the chair back under the table. At resteraunts, it is the the worst, I have watched from across the room at the one chair that the customer had walked away from and glared at this four legged piece of furniture as if I could mentally tell it to go. Visualizing the movement in my head until I would finally get up and walk around " the long way" to pay the bill, reaching out and gently giving the chair a nudge.
Now that I have completely realized this obsession/pet peeve, I am going to make a conscious effort to walk away from the table without subconsciously pushing in the chairs. Shouldn't be that hard right? It's going to be interesting to see what other small obsessions, annoyances, and pet peeves I can develope or realize that I already have.
If you have anything you're slightly obsessed with, annoyed with, or someone that you know, feel free to leave a comment and share this experience.
